Baruang Ka Nu Ngarora: Representasi Perubahan Sosial Masyarakat Sunda Abad XIX

Abstract


Mikihiro Moriyama menjelaskan bahwa tradisi cetak baru masuk ke daerah Sunda sekitar pertengahan abad ke-19. Masuknya mesin cetak dapat diperkirakan bersamaan dengan mulai dikenalnya kertas. Sebelumnya, orang Sunda lebih banyak menulis di atas daun lontar dan media lain seperti kulit kayu dan batu. Situasi ini memicu adanya perubahan dan perkembangan di seputar dunia tulis-menulis. Meskipun tidak secara drastis, pergeseran dalam dunia sastra Sunda telah muncul. Secara simbolis pergeseran itu ditandai dengan munculnya novel Sunda pertama, yaitu Baruang Ka Nu Ngarora ‘Racun bagi Remaja’. Makalah ini merepresentasikan berbagai perubahan sosial yang terjadi di Masyarakat Sunda abad ke-19 sebagai lingkungan pendukung novel Baruang Ka Nu Ngarora. Selain itu, makalah ini juga membahas novel Baruang Ka Nu Ngarora yang menggambarkan berbagai kebaruan sebagai akibat adanya perubahan sosial tersebut.

Abstract:
Mikihiro Moriyama explained that the new print tradition arrived in Sundanese region approximately in the middle of 19th century. It can be estimated that the entrance of printing was simultaneous with the existance of paper start he knew the paper. Previously, Sundanese wrote more on palm leaves and other medias such as leather, wood and stone. This situation has triggered the changes and developments around the world of writing. While not drastically, shifts in the world of Sundanese literature has emerged. Symbolically, the shift was marked by the emergence of the Sundanese first novel, namely Baruang Ka Nu Ngarora 'Toxic for Teens'. This paper represents the various social changes that occurred in the Sundanese Society in 19th century as a supporting environmental to novel Baruang Ka Nu Ngarora. In addition, this paper also discusses the novel depicting various novelty as a result of the social changes.
